P&G's views on issues regarding exposure assessment in risk assessment processes
Exposure Assessment Issues
Procter & Gamble's approach to establishing product safety is based on the use of risk assessment. Risk assessment is a well-recognized process that has been used by government authorities, industry and the scientific community for several decades. It is designed to establish the likelihood that people or the environment will be exposed to harmful levels of a substance, based on a scientific evaluation of both the potential hazards of a chemical (e.g., toxicity), and potential exposures to it. Like all scientific methods, risk assessment is constantly evolving, as new knowledge becomes available. Here we provide perspective on some of the issues that are currently under discussion regarding the exposure assessment part of the risk assessment process.

Biomonitoring
Recent advances in analytical chemistry now enable scientists to detect very low levels of chemicals in the body. These studies are often called biomonitoring. What are P&G's views about their use in risk assessment and product safety evaluations?
