We have a longstanding policy that our products will be safe for people and the environment. Because of P&G's commitment to innovation, this is an especially important area. Several different groups share responsibility for implementing this policy, especially within our research and development organization.

The safety of P&G's products is an essential element of responsible business. Our products and their ingredients are evaluated during research and development using risk assessment. The same standards of safety are applied globally. Beyond our internal efforts, we also comply with legal requirements in our markets around the world.

| Our Safety Organization |
To serve the needs of our global business, P&G has more than 400 toxicologists and environmental scientists or engineers who are responsible for product and ingredient safety. These are divided into several groups who advise our research and development departments, and conduct safety evaluations using risk assessment. We also have External Relations personnel who are keep in touch with the marketplace, so that we can address any questions that arise about our products. All manufacturing plants also have environmental and occupational safety specialists responsible for the safety of operations at those facilities.
